If you're running Windows and want to recover a deleted file, Ontrack Disk Manager may be able to help. It can find and display your files on your computer or on the disk that you deleted them from. The "Open" button in the application leads to various ways of using Ontrack Disk Manager's features, such as searching for files (especially those with keywords) and recovering them after they've been found. However, if you don't have access to the Windows desktop, these features are disabled - you'll need admin rights to use Ontrack Disk Manager effectively. The easiest way for a non-admin user is probably just through their Start menu or a shortcut they create on their desktop or quicklaunch bar. Ontrack Disk Manager is a simple program, so if you can boot a computer, you can probably run it. If you have a hard drive that is being used by Windows, but that is also being used by an operating system or other software, then you may have to take some extra precautions before running Ontrack Disk Manager. The results of the search will be displayed in a tree-like structure (depending on how much hard drive space you have). The easiest way may be simply right-clicking it and choosing Save target (link) as... When you have finished finding your files, use the "Undelete" option to delete the item that you just found.
